Christine also learned to play bass and
percussion while singing in Spanish and Portuguese with "Zaras"
(a Latin show band), and performed at the finest hotels and
showrooms in Las Vegas for a number of years.
Christine then joined the cast of "Las
Vegas Magic" (her first production show) as a singer, with
the added duties of assisting the magician. She quickly
learned about choreography and costume changes. "I'm not
a trained dancer," says Christine, "I'm a singer that
moves well. Thank goodness I've always been flexible and
into Yoga because I had to perform 3 illusions that required
me to fit into very tight spaces in very awkward positions –
That was the real show!" laughs Christine. She performed
with "Las Vegas Magic" for 5 months in South Korea before
subsequent shows took her to Aruba, Japan, and The
Philippines over the next several years.
Upon returning to the United States,
fate brought Christine to the Boston area. It was a world
away from her Nevada home and she indulged in the diversity.
It was here that she met and collaborated with a group of
Berklee College of Music graduates and formed the
adult-contemporary jazz group "Expeditions." Together they
recorded and released a CD of original material called "East
and West," which aired on local smooth-jazz stations.
While performing in Las Vegas with
"Expeditions," Christine was solicited by Greg Thompson
Productions just prior to their becoming stars of HBO's
"Glitter and Angst" and E! Network's "Nearly Famous."
Christine worked for Greg Thompson Productions for 3 years
doing 9 different shows in Reno, NV. "It was a fabulous
experience working with lavish costumes and sets, and
unbelievably talented singers and dancers," Christine
says.
When the shows closed in Reno, most of
the cast members went to Las Vegas with the show
"Skintight," but Christine opted to stay in Reno to "settle
down." "When I left Reno years ago, I vowed never to
return. Now that I've had a chance to 'come back,' Reno is
different for me," she says. "I love the mountains,
the seasons, and the perpetual blue sky. I love to be
outdoors, camping, fishing, biking, hiking, rollerblading,
or just laying in a hammock!"
Reno is where she was first asked "Can
you be Marilyn Monroe?" Christine now has tributes to both
Marilyn Monroe and Mae West!
Reno is also where she re-met Gary
Raffanelli and Sandy Selby. She had watched the "Gary and
Sandy Show" for years in Reno and had always enjoyed their
talent. Now they are all part of "Abbacadabra: The Ultimate
ABBA Concert." "This show is a blast!" says
Christine. "I always liked Abba music growing up, but
now, to be a part of this awesome, high-energy musical
tapestry is just pure fun! You have to see this show – You
won’t be able to stay in your seat!"
Christine met the love of her life in Reno. Aaron Anderson is a sound and video engineer and her own, personal webmaster. "See?" smiles
Christine… "It's never too late to have a happy
childhood!" |
